BeatGrow is an Android rhythm game where the tracklist is Malaysian folk songs, lagu rakyat. Two of us built it: I wrote the game, my teammate designed it.
Two people, clear lanes
All the Unity and C# work is mine: the gameplay, the rhythm and note-hit system, the beatmaps, the Android build, and the itch.io release. Hafizah binti Ainul Adnan handled the UI/UX design in Figma and created the art, and I implemented her designs in Unity. A small team works when the lanes are this clear.

Songs first, by ear
Folk songs do not come with clean sheet music, so every track started at my desk in FL Studio. I learned each song by ear, rebuilt it in the piano roll, then authored the beatmap from my own arrangement. That order matters: the notes players hit come straight from the arrangement, so the chart always agrees with the music.

Where it stands
The main build ran from August to November 2025, and BeatGrow took the Teknologi & Inovasi award at NMEPC 3.0 2025, the National Microenterprise Pitching Competition. Version 0.2.1 is live on itch.io as a 35 MB Android APK, and development continues.
